Radio and The Disappearance of Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan

Below is an online summary of a presentation delivered at the Charlotte NC and NY AWA antique radio meets in 2015.

If you would like to download the entire presentation in either PowerPoint or Keynote format with embedded movies ready to redeliver to your ham radio club or organization, please email me...!

Or you can just watch the youtube videos below in order to get a sense of the “meat” of this presentation...

(Amelia and Fred lose their receive antenna during takeoff Lae New Guinea)

(Last radio call)

(The world responds, slowly)

(Radio Direction Finding, and "Betty’s Notebook”-video has two parts, be patient)  Tighar artifact 2-2-V-1 (Aluminum plate artifact)

This last video is a long one but worth it…!  Watch the first 5 minutes and the last 10 minutes or so...

The best book I’ve read on this subject so far is:

 “Finding Amelia”:

Here’s a teaser from this book:

Another excellent book is:

Since delivering these presentations I’ve had the great luck of “finding” (thanks to the generosity and support of Hue Miller KA7LXY) a Western Electric 13-C aircraft transmitter, the same as Amelia had onboard.  It is the only example known at present. Here are some unrestored pictures:

It’s partially restored now (cleaned up and repainted - below) but not fired up yet, needs a pair of 205D final tubes - I hope to get there “soon”

If you have interest in any of this please feel free to email me...
